DAY 18

God Bless You People of God,

This fast is so rich and I pray that it continues to build integrity. Do your best to hold out when you get hungry. Here is a scripture that will help Matthew 4:4Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' "

Be Reminded: Fast from 8am-6pm and pray three times daily and read a proverb. todays proverbs 18

Focus Text:

10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.

Reflection: In this time of fasting and sanctification it is good to know that there is some help through the trials and hardship. Our proverb offers us a secret weapon after we have done all that we can do. That weapon is the name of the lord. It is a strong tower and the righteous run to it and find safety. The key to the verse is that the righteous run to it. In other words the righteous need protection and safety too. It is possible to be righteous and doing God's will and still have trouble or need a place to hide. We need not be deceived into thinking that a life of righteousness makes us exempt from trouble. We all will have trouble. The only difference is that the righteous have a place or a weapon that can offer them safety.

I dare you to call on the name of the lord when you are in trouble and see what God does.

His name is great and if we are smart we will use it.That is your meditation today.

Be Blessed

  1. I'm not sure if we are only supposed to comment on what is written here, but this is something that stuck out to me in the chapter..

    Prov. 18:24 "There are 'friends' who destroy each other,
    but a real friend sticks closer than a brother".

    * This verse reminds me of a message that my youth pastor taught a few years ago. The title of his message was "Iron Sharpens Iron" and it was about friendships and just relationships with people in general. Basically, we only want to keep close those people who are going to help us become stronger and better individuals. In reference to the title of the message, think about a kitchen knife. When you sharpen a kitchen knife you do not use wood or plastic; you use that iron rod (the same material the knife is made of). You use iron because it is the only material that is strong enough to make the knife sharper. Using the knife on wood and plastic is useless because it either will cut straight through it or it only make the knife more dull. So when we select our friendships we have to make sure that our friends are made of iron and can give us strength and not wood or plastic that will only wear us down over time and make us dull.

  2. Remember when we were kids and we use to place hide and seek? We would pick a tree, a car, or some random object to be based. We sang these little songs to determine who would be "it" because no one wanted to be it(at least I didn't, because that usually meant that I had to go find everyone more than once). What I liked most was being the hider because at some point I could run to safety. Once the seeker counted to 50 (after skipping 20 numbers), they would run to all the known spots to find people. And once you were discovered, it was time to run to base before you were caught. If you were lucky, you ran to base before they could even find you. But if luck wasn't on your side or your legs just didn't carry you fast enough, you were caught and now you were "it". God's words is our tree,our car, our base (the safety) and trouble is "it". After trouble has done all it counting it will come after you. First it is going to look for you in the popular spots and then search in the cuts. Eventually trouble will find you. Then you will have to run for base. You can either run like a crazy person, around and around the car until trouble finally just climbs over and tags you; or you can just run straight to base and be safe. Whats the wise thing to do? When trouble is after you go straight for Gods word. It is your base, your safety and once you know it, believe it and live it, no matter how hard trouble tries to tag you, you will always have Gods word as you base.
