God Bless you people of God,
I encourage you to not give up on your journey. If you missed a day or two just pick back up. God still continues to bless through these readings.
Focus Text: Proverb 13:10
pride only brings quarrels but wisdom is found in those who take advice
Reflection: First of all read the focus text several times. Pride is a serious issue in the life of many people. Pride will make us do some strange things. Pride makes us neglect good advice. Pride makes us argue with people when we know that we are wrong. Pride makes us act out of character in public because someone tried to embarrass us. Pride makes us lie when it is unnecessary. Pride makes us do some strange things.
Some where in our life we must learn how to deal with our pride and take advice. If we claim to know everything how can God speak to us? Sometimes God sends some of the most unlikely people to give us advice. If our pride says that people are too young, too old, too ugly, too immoral, too black, too white, too anything to speak to us, it is very likely that we have missed out on good advice. Even hypocrites can give good advice.
Consider this: Where in your life have you struggled with pride?

DAY 12
God Bless you people of God
Reminder: Read Proverbs 12 and pray 3 times today
Focus Text: Proverbs 12:13-19
13 An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk,
but a righteous man escapes trouble.
14 From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things
as surely as the work of his hands rewards him.
15 The way of a fool seems right to him,
but a wise man listens to advice.
16 A fool shows his annoyance at once,
but a prudent man overlooks an insult.
17 A truthful witness gives honest testimony,
but a false witness tells lies.
18 Reckless words pierce like a sword,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
Reflection: Our Focus text educates us about lip service. Wisdom nugget: There is great power in what you say. Many of us talk a "good game" yet have serious trouble when it is time to step to the plate. I believe we have trouble because we neglect the power of our tongues. Sometimes we just speak without thinking and find ourselves wishing we could take it back. It is frustrating because so many people speak to us without considering the power in their words, but those of us who understand the power and privilege of the tongue must manage our tongues differently. A solution here is be "slow to speak and quick to listen." Honestly, people of God, we can no longer afford to speak without regard and without purpose. The ears of the world need to feel the power of a God-inspired tongue. The more I reflect, the more I consider why God gave our tongues so much power. It is probably because God intended for us to depend more on whats inside than outside. Our words come from within, our actions come from without. Our words are a manifestation of whats in our hearts. Our actions usually send deceiving messages. When we think about it most of Jesus' miracles came as a result of something that came out of his mouth. God probably intended to show us that our hands can build a house but our tongues can build communities that will inhabit and maintain the house. There is great power in what you say! Let us consider what we say...that is the wise thing to do.
Have you built someone up lately? Have you said an encouraging word to someone lately? Is your tongue an instrument of praise or curse?
Consider your words
Be blessed

DAY 11
God Bless you people of God
What a wonderful series of proverbs we are in now. This stuff is good!
Reminder: Read Proverb 11 and pray 3 times a day (Still waiting to hear from you all concerning what God is revealing to you. Wisdom nugget: it is helpful to take your time reading these proverbs or at least meditate on the focus text or one you find interesting. Then you will be able to see it in your life)
Focus Text: Proverb 11:24-25
24 One man (woman) gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
25 A generous man (woman) will prosper;
he (she) who refreshes others will himself (herself) be refreshed.
Reflection: Think about this......Giving is the wise thing to do. Giving is a wise thing to do. God loves a cheerful giver!!! God loves a person who does not mind having the faith to believe that our lack is not God's lack.
To give is to make room to receive. It is amazing how we feel about running out of things. We fear that we won't have enough to do what we wish. Well, this proverb shows us that withholding leads to poverty. In fact, if you find yourself approaching scarcity in your life, either because you have given too much or you just did not have it from the start, begin to praise God! That means you are in a perfect position to have God pour into you. There is nothing like being empty and suddenly being filled. God calls us to give continually not just to bless other people. God also calls us to give in order to make room for the blessing God has in store for those who give. Can one receive where there is no room? How much room have we reserved for God to pour into us?
TODAY's WISDOM: MAKE ROOM FOR GOD!
***these two scriptures are just food for thought...you know something you can put on an away message
2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
13 A gossip betrays a confidence,
but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.

DAY 10
God bless you people of God,
Reminder: Read proverbs 10 and pray 3 times daily Focus Text
(note: todays proverb is packed with knowledge and i think we all should feel incline to offer some reflection. lets see some responses)
17 He who heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray
Reflection: An important lesson offered from our focus text: How you respond has an effect on other people. One of the first lessons that wisdom can offer in living a public life is that people watch you. They see who you are and what you do. Sometimes we would like to be excluded from the conversation or to have people stay out of our business because that makes us more comfortable. I wonder if we consider however, the influence of our actions. Did you know that people can be saved by your actions? Peoples lives can be changed by watching you deal with the blessings and burdens of life.
When we are in trouble, we tend to hide ourselves behind a smile and nice clothing. We tend to pretend like everything is okay. When we have our secret habits and secret sin, we tend to cover it with make-up and cologne, good conversation, and other kinds of distractions. However, sometimes God uses our challenges to show the way to life. If we choose to ignore the opportunity we lead others astray. We send a message of hypocrisy and make Christianity unattractive. We fool ourselves into thinking that we can do what we want to do instead of what God calls us to do.
A serious thought: How many people have we lead astray ignoring God's correction? How many people have suffered from our sinful fiascoes and now have trouble finding God? Have we heeded disciple lately? or does our life still lead others astray?
Consider the cost. Discover the opportunity. Show the way to life
God Bless

DAY 9
Hello Blessed People of God This Journey continue to Bless me and I pray that it will Bless you! Reminder: Pray 3 times today (when you wake, 1 time during the day, before you slumber) and Read Proverb 9 Focus Text
Provers 9: 7-9, 12
7 "Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult;
whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse.
8 Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you;
rebuke a wise man and he will love you.
9 Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still;
teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.
12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;
if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer."
Reflection: Well there is a difference between the mocker and the wise person. A point can be taken from today's text that will offer insight as we deal with those whom we find ourselves around. That point is: NOT EVERY ONE IS WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE! There are some mockers that will find their way into your circles. I am not suggesting that you need to be phobic but one can truly see a person's commitment to God, to you, and to themselves, based on their response to rebuke. Rebuke is, by definition, to offer sharp criticism. I would assume that a person does not warrant your criticism if you don't have some concern for their well being (that was a wisdom nugget...don't waist your time criticizing folk who are not worth your time). However, sometimes you can tell whether a person really has a desires to commit to God by calling them on some of their inconsistent behaviors, statements, and values.
The mocker will hate you and insult you. The wise person will say thank you and consider the motives of your actions. Now we need not be upset at the mocker and we need not persecute the mocker. In fact all of us have been a mocker at one time. Simply, identifying the kinds of people that we are dealing with is an essential step in wisdom. We need to know if we have some true wise people at our side or if we are surrounded by mockers. This matters when we are in a hard time or experiencing temptation to go out of God's will. I don't know about you but i would prefer to know who is at my side, who is real and who is a mocker. Glory to the name of God.
hope you are being blessed

DAY 8
Hello Blessed People of God,
This week we will be reading a proverb AND praying 3 times a day (we will attempt to do this every day) Please continue to offer your insight into the scripture
Today's proverb: Proverb 8
2On the heights along the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 beside the gates leading into the city,
at the entrances, she cries aloud:
Reflection: Here is a wisdom nugget. Today's proverb offers some insight to where we might find wisdom. It suggest that wisdom is found on the heights, along the way. That means that We must first pick our heads up and look for wisdom. Sometimes our head are downcast because we struggle and have difficult but wisdom and scream at us to look up because help is above.
Wisdom can also be found at the cross of certain paths. I know that life would be easier without choices but wisdom stands at the cross point of the difficult decisions. Having to make difficult decisions positions us to know and recognize wisdom more. Don't be mad, simply take advantage of the opportunity to meet and get acquainted with wisdom.
Wisdom can also be found at the entrances in the to city. Not in the middle of the gate but on the side of the gate at the entrance. Think before you enter. God has places wisdom right along side the gate that you might gain counsel before you go in.
These are just a few tips about where to look for wisdom. Are you at a cross road? Are you the one who has their head hanging low? Are you about to enter into a city without certainty about its inhabitants? You know where you can find wisdom. Open your eyes heart and spirit and say hello

DAY 7
Hello People of God
Bless you as you have completed your first week of our 30 day journey. Our next 7 days will require us to be a bit more disciplined in our practice. Stay tuned.
Reminder:
Read Proverbs 7
Focus Text
21 With persuasive words she led him astray;
she seduced him with her smooth talk.
22 All at once he followed her
like an ox going to the slaughter,
like a deer [b] stepping into a noose [c]
23 till an arrow pierces his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
little knowing it will cost him his life.
Reflection: People of God, being led astray can cost us our life. It can cost us some of our time and cost us some of our resources. One of the things that leads us astray is persuasive words. Let us consider the words that convince us to make certain decision. Mal-intended persuasion is at the root of many negative and ungodly decisions. So today lets pay close attention to the words that are inserted into our souls. Let us be sure that we are not being led to the slaughter house. If anything let us stream all our thoughts and decisions through the lens of Christ.

DAY 6
Good Afternoon Blessed people of God
today's proverb was long and quite intense.
Be sure to read proverbs 6 verse 20-23
20 My son, keep your father's commands
and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
21 Bind them upon your heart forever;
fasten them around your neck.
22 When you walk, they will guide you;
when you sleep, they will watch over you;
when you awake, they will speak to you.
23 For these commands are a lamp,
this teaching is a light,
and the corrections of discipline
are the way to life,
Reflection: Once again Solomon has commissioned us to take note of our mother and fathers teachings. People of God, this admonition must have great significance. The relationship with your parents (whether you like it or not) is valuable and warrants conversation. One of the most difficult thing to do is obey your parents during moments of disagreement. When we are growing up we feel like our parents nag and fuss over things that are not serious which makes the liberty of growing up much more attractive.
If you take nothing from our first reflection, you should know that it is wise to heed to advice and instruction of your parents. Try to see their perspective. Listen to what they are saying versus how and who is saying it. God wants us to be much more concentrated on content than the instrument that is used to deliver to content. Wise and powerful things come from our parents. Even flawed parents have much wisdom to offer. If you do not respect your parents or simply have trouble listening to their input, do a self check. Do you really know everything? Is it really a bad idea to consider some of the things your parents are saying? Or are you just rebelling because you want to choose your own path

DAY 5
Focus Scripture Proverb
20 Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress?
Why embrace the bosom of another man's wife?
21 For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD,
and he examines all his paths.
Reflection: Our proverb today addresses adultery which is voluntary sexual relations between a married person and somebody other than his or her spouse. Marriage is a wonderful thing that should not be spoiled by unfaithfulness however, marriage is a type of covenant. It is very similar to our relationship with Christ. It requires a commitment through heartache, tribulation, success, and triumph. Consider this scenario and question: You are wed to Christ, have you ever committed adultery? Have you ever cheated on the God that you are committed to? If so then the scriptures today are very applicable in your life.
See that Solomon notes that our ways are very visible to God. The things that we think we are getting away with are visible to God. So many of us think that we are getting away with our secret lifestyles and secret habits. Well, God can see your ways and analyzes your path. Consider yourself to be wed to Christ and make sure you are not committing spiritual, mental, or physical, adultery. Work on fully committing. Let go of any secret relationships that cause you to be unfaithful. This could come in the form of people, things, food, anything that causes you to move away from Christ. God see it and desires your commitment.What a brain and mouth full of wisdom for today. Meditate and reflect! look forward to hearing from you all

DAY 4
Please know that we would love to hear any revelation or reflection God gives you on your 30 day journey.
Prayer request and praise reports are welcome God bless you once again People of God,
Remember: Read and Meditate on PROVERBS 4
Focus Text:
(Note: Each of the past 4 proverbs have advised us as readers to pay attention to the teachings and store them in our hearts and don't forget them...just some food for thought as we read these proverbs)
7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom, though it COST ALL YOU HAVE, get understanding.
Reflection: The more I consider this journey toward wisdom the more I realize the cost. For some reason, wisdom continues to call me into a place that I normally would not go. One of the initial cost of Wisdom and understanding is comfort. We must get used to choosing wisdom over comfort. Is it better to be wise and uncomfortable or foolish (ignorant) and comfortable? Too many of us are comfortable in our foolishness (ignorance) when God is calling us to make better decisions that will empower our life and draw us closer.
Yes wisdom will cost you something. If it cost you a relationship, you did not need it. If it cost you fleshly satisfaction, God has something better ahead. If it cost you time, know that time used for God is not used in vain. Accept the cost, realize the reward...for as yesterdays proverb told us "wisdom is more precious that rubies and yields better return than gold, nothing you desire can compare to wisdom" Believe it and practice it. Know and accept the cost, realize the reward.Is wisdom worth all you have....YES...you won't regret it.

DAY 3
Good morning people of God!!
Day 3 - make sure to read proverbs 3
Focus text
13 Blessed is the man (woman) who finds wisdom,
the man (woman) who gains understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her;
those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.
Reflection: What a powerful scripture. Think about it, you are blessed because you find wisdom. Wisdom is a tree of life. Wisdom yields a return and is profitable. Life grows out of wisdom. Hear the wisdom in our focus text. Wisdom offers growth people of God. Let us look at our decisions and see which decisions have produced growth. Let us look at our responses to others and see which responses have produced growth. Let us look at some of the things we have spent our money on and see if our spending has produced growth.
Wisdom is directly related to growth according to our text. God laid the earth's foundations as a surface to build upon and growth was the result. The reason why we are blessed if we find wisdom is because it offers us the most growth for our time.This is why wisdom sometimes conflicts with our own desires. Wisdom understands where the most growth will come from. And lets face it, sometimes we would rather stay where it is comfortable because growth can be painful and uncomfortable. Don't resist growth. Let us seek wisdom because we want to grow. Grow toward reading the bible more, grow toward loving ourselves and others more, and more importantly grow closer to God. That is the wisest thing we can do. P.S. Please read the entire proverb. The knowledge and admonitions are very healthy. Allow God to open your mind concerning the wisdom available in this text. Pray before and after that God would reveal God's self to you as you study and meditate. God bless you for committing to this Journey. Stay encouraged.

Day 3 - make sure to read proverbs 3
Focus text
13 Blessed is the man (woman) who finds wisdom,
the man (woman) who gains understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her;
those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.

DAY 2
God Bless You People of God,
Here is day 2: Focus Text:
Proverbs 2:3-6
3 if you call our for insight and cry aloud for understanding
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God
6 For the lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding
Reflection: Often times we ask God to bless us with material things or ask God to change situations for the better. Our focus scripture is meant to open our minds to the reality that sometimes we must pray for the wisdom to attain the things we desire to have or pray for the wisdom to behave/respond in a way that will help our situations to change. Wisdom is so valuable is deserves to be sought after. It is more valuable than a sale at your favorite store. Search for it and discover that the blessing of wisdom is found in the PROCESS of searching for it. The time you take to think, supplicate, and wait on God; the discomfort of having pieces of the puzzle but missing others; and the insecurity surrounding the fact that we are used to instant gratification all offer growth that will empower our lives.
God gives wisdom...God gives wisdom....not just things, not just money, not just love, not just grace, but wisdom. God gives wisdom that will carry us into a life of faithfulness and prosperity, And it is true that somethings will change if we began to change our perspective, our response, our attitudes, and our approaches.Today, consider your prayers and try to discover God's gift of wisdom in your dealings. Lets continue to search for wisdom

DAY 1
God Bless You People of God!
Today, we (COR Young Adult Ministries) begin our 30 day Wisdom Journey. Today we begin to read one chapter of proverbs per day.
Our objective is to seek the wisdom of the lord and do our best to apply it to our lives. Each day you will get a wisdom verse from us. We earnestly pray that during the next thirty day's God will grant wisdom and expose areas and decisions that are not wise.
If you desire to join us, on this journey you are welcome to. Please begin reading and start with Proverbs 1. (note proverbs 1:1-7 explains the purpose of the book of proverbs; read for understanding
Today's Focus Scriptures:
29 Since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the LORD,
30 since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,
31 they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.
Reflection: Knowledge and wisdom come in many different ways. They can be difficult to accept because they are often present themselves as options when we have decided to seek our own will. Today's focus scripture cautions us to be careful in our decision making because our decisions DO PRODUCE FRUIT. Today, intentionally look for the wiser choice. Study instead of procrastinate, go to class instead of sleep in, be good stewards of your time. On this journey let the fruit of our ways be generated from accepting knowledge, fearing the lord, accepting the Lord's advice (found in the Bible), and praising God when God rebukes us.
